In mid April 2015, Hunan Shiyou Electric Co., Ltd. defeated Qunxiong and officially signed a batch contract for 5MW offshore electrical control equipment with Xiangdian Wind Energy Co., Ltd. in Pinghai Bay.
This winning bid marks Shiyou Electric's successful entry into China's first truly commercial offshore wind power project.
China has abundant offshore wind energy resources, with a vast sea area of 2-15 meters deep along the eastern coast. According to the same method as onshore wind energy resources, the available wind energy resources at a height of 10 meters are about three times that of onshore, which is 700 gigawatts. Moreover, it is located very close to the coastal power load center. With the breakthrough and maturity of offshore wind farm technology, offshore wind power has the value of large-scale commercial development and will also become a strategic sustainable new energy source.
